The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville offers nutrition/cooking classes teaching the fundamentals and importance of making healthy food choices. For the first time, chefs Kiyonce, Ka’Nosha, Kaniya, Raven and Marshai worked together in planning and executing dinner for special guests at the Boys & Girls Club.
Lead by our 2014 Volunteer of the Year, Jeanne Silliman, chefs prepared waldorf salad, crunchy coated chicken breasts, green beans and potatoes in chunky tomato sauce and completed the meal with strawberry brownies for dessert. Beverages served included water and sparkling grape juice. Each chef held a specific role in making dinner and expressed what they learned throughout the workshop:
* Proper servings of fruits and vegetables.
* Healthy food choices include a variety of options.
* They can cook at home for their family.
* They will continue participating in our nutrition classes.
