Ron Ryan, Executive Director
A Chicago native, Ron Ryan moved to the area nearly 19 years ago. With a vivid background in education and coaching, Ron has a true passion for our community’s youth. Combined, Ron has over 25 years experience in coaching, coordinating, directing and managing students and various personnel. His education includes University of Illinois at Chicago (Bachelor of Science in Kinesoliogy), Chicago State University (Master of Science in Physical Education), St. Xavier University and Governor’s State University where he received his Masters of Arts in Educational Administration.
Ron is very active in the community serving on the United Way Planning Committee, serving as United Way Agency Directors Chair, is a member on the Evansville Sports Corporation Board and serves as the Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs Southern Region Chair. Ron is also a former two-year United Way Board Member and the 2013 recipient of the Indiana Outstanding Club Professional Award designated by the Boys & Girls Club of America.
Tonya Staup, Assistant Executive Director
As an Evansville native, Tonya Staup has remained a dedicated supporter of helping others. Currently in her 33rd year with the Boys & Girls Club, Tonya has an integral role in daily operations including overseeing full-time and part-time staff, assisting with various programs as needed, and always lends a helping hand for event set-up and tear-down. Tonya graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a major in Social Sciences and Communications.
Welcoming Club members and families with open arms, Tonya has many stories to share and enjoys keeping up with Club members and helping them achieve success in and outside the Club. She has served on the planning committee for Boys & Girls Club of America and received the Tom Burt Pacesetter Award in 2010 from Boys & Girls Club of America. As a program supporter, Tonya has served on the SMART Girls steering committee. Since her career began at the Boys & Girls Club, Tonya has been the liaison with the Service League of Evansville.
Shanna Groeninger, Resource Development Director
An Evansville native, Shanna Groeninger joined the Boys & Girls Club in April 2013. Shanna is a University of Southern Indiana graduate with a degree in advertising and public relations. She assists staff and Board members in executing events and media relations, helps sustain the Clubs financial responsibilities through grants, individual and corporate donors and oversees web design and social media for the Club.
She welcomed her newest member of the family in October 2019 and spends much of her home time taking in sports, fun, and being outdoors.
Scott Roland, Interim Fulton SquareUnit Director
For the past five years Scott has helped lead our programming. He develops key programming activities and assists with social media. As a Kentucky native, Scott was previously introduced to the Boys & Girls Club through working at the Club in Bowling Green.
Scott is creatively inspiring and hosts his own podcasts. He is leading virtual programming during our COVID-19 period of shut down.
Leslie Asbury, OneMain Financial Services Unit Director
As a 21 year staff member, Leslie Asbury oversees the Fulton Square Boys & Girls Club Unit in Evansville. Leslie’s responsibilities include managing part-time staff, coordinating and overseeing programs, physical and recreational activities and field trips. Leslie is known for her creativity and has taken the lead on updating her unit as needed.
Her hobbies include IU Basketball and she adores penguins.
Amy Hahn, Cultural & Education Director
An Evansville native and key full-time staff member, Amy Hahn coordinates program closely with part and full-time staff, ensuring each program is implemented. Her responsibilities include managing interns, volunteers, rewards/prizes for various programs and assisting with staff schedules and Americorp guidelines.
