Darian Porter’s Boys & Girls Club Journey
October 21, 2026
Every day, young people walk through the doors of the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville looking for opportunity, encouragement, and people who believe in them. Darian Porter is one of those success stories.
Darian joined the Club at age 9 after hearing about it from friends. What started as a place to spend time after school quickly became a second home where he built friendships, found mentors, and created lifelong memories.
“The Club was a big part of my life. Some of my best memories in life are the time I spent at the Club,” Darian shared during the Boys & Girls Club Wine Experience.
Over the years, Darian embraced every opportunity to learn, lead, and grow. He wasnamed the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville’s 2018 Youth of the Year and continued
pursuing his goals while balancing college, football, and work responsibilities.
After graduating from Bosse High School in 2020, Darian earned a degree in Applied
Mathematics from Franklin College in 2024 and a degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Southern Indiana in 2026. Today, he is beginning his career with
Bowen Engineering.
Along the way, Darian stayed connected to the Club, returning as a Youth Worker and
mentor for younger members.
"Our kids love seeing a leader who came from their neighborhood," said CEO Ron
Ryan. "They respect and look up to someone like Darian."
For today's Club members, Darian's journey is a reminder that hard work,
perseverance, and support can lead to great things.
"Enjoy it. Build the bonds and connections because they'll last a lifetime," Darian said.
Thanks to the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, young people like
Darian have the opportunity to dream big and achieve their goals.
